We have based our
Scarborough holiday this year in The Clifton Hotel, a
clifftop hotel overlooking Scarborough's vast North Bay. The
hotel boasts inspirational views over the North Sea and
Scarborough's magnificent castle headland; it is easy to see
how First World War poet Wilfred Owen was inspired to write
most of his famous works at the hotel. The hotel has all en
suite bedrooms, direct dial telephone, colour TV and tea and
coffee making facilities. There is a passenger lift.
Day 1 - Travel to
Scarborough
Day 2 - A coastal
journey via Cayton Bay, Filey to Bridlington returning via
Drifield and the North Yorkshire countryside.
Day 3 - At rest in
Scarborough. Those of you interested may like to catch the
train to Middlesborough for the best coastal scenery from
any train in the country.
Day 4 - Today we
travel via Pickering across the famous North York Moors
National Park to the village of Goathland which is the
setting for "Heatbeat". If it can be arranged, passengers
may like to disembark in Pickering to catch the famous North
York Moors Railway steam train. The railway has been
featured many times in the popular TV series. We will return
to our hotel in time for dinner.
Day 5 - After
